Social Emotional Learning

About SEL

Social emotional learning (SEL) at Queens is a unique feature woven throughout the school fabric with the aim to create emotionally strong and resilient individuals. To thrive in a communal world, students must learn social and emotional skills, such as controlling impulses, interpreting and understanding feelings, motivating themselves, and developing positive attitudes towards the school and community at large. This indigenous philosophy is ingrained throughout the curriculum beginning from the early formative years.

SEL Practices

SEL practices have enabled educators at Queens College to personalize academic lessons that encourage wholehearted student participation. By nurturing a sense of empathy, self-awareness, and inclusiveness in the classroom, SEL practices bring about remarkable transformation. We comprehend the need of the students to express and thus collaborative group projects are included at various levels.  Students decide their part and contribute effectively as every member has an assigned/significant role. Teachers assist students to set goals for improvement and they work collectively towards the same objective.SEL skill development and interventions occur in safe, caring, supportive, participatory, and well-managed environments rendering the much needed sense of achievement.
