Overview

Stepping away from a sheltered home environment our school takes care of kindergarten children by giving them an environment that is full of love and care. A home away from home, the early years is designed to meet the needs of children between the age groups of two to six years of age.  Kindergarten consists of  Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG classes.

Aiming at making them comfortable our toddlers look forward to coming to school where they enjoy learning and develop the required skills without any fear or separation anxiety. Drawing inspiration from varied educationists and philosophers our pedagogy is ever evolving.

Learning & Teaching strategy

Children are supported to explore and learn about themselves and their surroundings with the help of curriculum-based activities that help build fundamental literacy and numerical skills along with environmental awareness through collaborative play. These activities not only make learning enjoyable but also shape confidence in children. Introduction of concepts that are age appropriate and are based on understanding, reasoning, exploring and hands on activities are woven into the curriculum. Language teaching progresses in gradation and encompasses listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing and visual representations. A robust reading programme and early phonics helps young students to get a head start in school. Mathematics includes experiential learning and number value identification, pre number concepts, and age-appropriate exercises of practical life. Montessori equipment and manipulative toys used extensively aid gross motor skills and logical reasoning. Various hands-on activities lend a significant platform for parents to involve themselves in the journey of their wards’ learning. Such activities make parents, and their wards connect better and develop stronger bonds.

Assessment in Pre-primary

The child-friendly assessment in kindergarten classes is a combination of teacher observations and simple queries that help identify early literacy and numerical skills. How a child approaches learning, his/her ability to follow directions or instructions, and how he/she interacts with peers and teachers all form part of these interpretations. Conceptual understanding, reasoning, development of gross and fine motor skills are done through daily classroom records. The observations also include evaluating the development of skills that are oral (speaking, recitation, recognizing, circle time) and written (dictation, formation, drawing).Timely identification of students who may have different learning abilities is done regularly to provide early interventions. A portfolio is maintained for every individual child that includes these observations and other factual details to carry forward.

Feedback is given to the parents minimum eight times a year and suggestions are given through collective or individual parent teacher meetings.
